Maruti Suzuki launches all new DZire with prices starting at Rs 5.45 lakh

The all-new Dzire shares the same new HEARTECT platform as those adopted for the all-new Swift, which is being sold in Japan, Europe, and other countries from 2017.

Automobile major Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched the new Dzire sedan.

Maruti claims a fuel economy figure of 22kpl for the petrol motor in both manual and automatic guise and 28.4kpl for the diesel unit.

The petrol version of the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire with manual powertrains is priced between Rs 5.45 lakh and Rs 7.94 lakh, while the diesel variant between Rs 6.45 lakh and Rs 8.94 lakh.

"Maruti Suzuki, together with its suppliers, has invested over Rs 1,000 crore for the development of the all-new Dzire", the statement said. Maruti Suzuki Dzire has always been a blockbuster for company since its launch and it has huge demand in the Indian market.

The Dzire has been one of the best-selling auto models in the country but will continue to face competition from other compact sedans in India like the recently-facelifted Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Volkswagen Ameo and the recently-launched Tata Tigor. However, this is one of the few places where the Dzire loses out.

Dzire has been instrumental in making the company a strong player in the entry sedan segment.

"The all new DZire has the looks and design of an authentic sedan". The new Dzire gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lights with a signature light for a distinctive touch, however, this is only available in the top-end VXi/ZXi trim. The DDiS 190 Diesel and VVT 1.2 petrol K series engines will do the duties under the hood. While the petrol is lighter by 85kg, the diesel weighs 95kg lesser than the previous Dzire.

According to RS Kalsi, the new Maruti will be produced only at Manesar plant for now although there is sufficient capacity available at the Gurgaon plant as well. Like before, the LXi/LDi and VXi/VDi trims get 14-inch steel rims but the ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+ variants get 15-inch alloy wheels. The new Dzire also gets air conditioning vents at the rear. But more importantly, it gets dual front airbags and ABS with EBD standard for safety. The V trims also come with a music system which is a 2-DIN unit that comes with Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX inputs.
