Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has beaten both its competitors and (narrowly) its box office expectations with a $145 million opening weekend in the US. Despite the plethora of behind the scenes players that inevitably come with such big-budget feature, from all accounts many of Guardians most memorable characteristics have been the sole contribution Gunn, whose brother also returns from his first film cameo to play a more pivotal role this time around.

Chris Pratt and his band of oddball Marvel superheroes picked up right where they left off in the new "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2".

"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" appears to signal the arrival of the summer movie season. Once the totals have been confirmed, Vol. 2 will hold the record for the 17th biggest opening in US history, between the $142 million opening for Twilight: New Moon and the $147 million for Furious 7. Last summer saw a litany of sequels that failed to live up to earlier installments. "This is such a fresh and exciting film.it's the kind of event that gets people excited about going to theaters". Moviegoers gave it an A on CinemaScore, and the picture has a respectable 82% Rotten Tomatoes rating. After taking in $56 million on Friday, the film also took in $51 million on Saturday. The bottom line of just about every studio depends on it.

Films like "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", Pixar's "Cars 3", Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" are all still on the schedule. She's actually one of my favorite actors I've ever worked with. "There's a lot out there".
