Most of the outage reports appear to be coming from Australia and New Zealand, and parts of Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The latest affected users on Tuesday morning, though the service had mostly resumed by around 10am.

Users of the social media site reported being confronted with the message: "Sorry, something went wrong".

Refresh Facebook until it comes back online. "We've now fixed the issue and apologise for the inconvenience caused", he said.

It said in a statement to The Nation that it had fixed the technical issue.

According to a map shared by DownDetector, the Facebook outage spread across countries like Canada, parts of the US, Mexico, Australia and later spread to Asian countries like Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
